Where is Love?

on February 17, 2011

Friday evening was filled with excitement  as it was the first solo dance lesson for my daughter, Evan.  This spring, she will be performing a dance solo for the first time in local dance competitions, and boy, oh, boy, is she excited!

Evan watching "Ballet Under the Stars" 2010

Her song?  “Where is Love” by Richard South from the story of Oliver!.  I have not been able to locate the version she uses for her routine, but click here for a different version of the song from YouTube.  The genre she is competing in will be lyrical dance.

She doesnt know yet what her costume will be like, but I am assuming something fairly easy to find.  The routine begins out with Evan in a cardboard box since she is a homeless, orphaned girl.  The song is about wanting his (or her) mother…sad song really.
I am so proud of Evan.  I hope this routine can help her come out of her shell a little, and that she can grow wings and fly.
